Red Mountain Colorado Packing List

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is, “What should my teenager bring to treatment?” That’s why we’ve provided the list below of items that your teen should bring with them. We’ve also included items that are not permitted at our facility.

What to Bring:

  • Prescriptions in their original pharmacy container w/ label intact (if applicable)
  • Toiletries: all sealed, no toiletries containing alcohol or aerosol
  • 1 small, 3×5 makeup bag with makeup in it (if applicable)
  • Art/Coloring Books/ Journals/Pens/Pencils/Crayons (optional)
  • iPod or music device that does not connect to the internet (optional, also provided)
  • Musical Instrument (optional, check with admissions)
  • Sunglasses
  • Electric Shaver  
  • Pictures from home – no glass frames
  • Watch (w/o WiFi capabilities)
  • List of names, phone numbers and addresses for family members
  • Sunscreen and lotions
  • Spiritual texts (optional)
  • Passport
  • 1 baseball Hat
  • 1 warm (beanie) Hat
  • Neck warmer/neck gaiter
  • 1 winter, waterproof gloves
  • 1 weeks supply of undergarments/socks/sports bras
  • 1 pair waterproof hiking boots
  • 1 pair closed toed athletic shoes
  • 1 house shoes/slippers (optional)
  • 1 shower shoes/flip flops
  • 1 pair of Trail/Hiking shorts + 1 pair pants  (pants with zip off shorts are recommended)
  • 2 dry fit shirts
  • Up to 5 athletic Pants/shorts for workouts/rec center/gym sports
  • Athletic leggings/yoga pants acceptable for gym/rec activities
  • Up to 7 t-shirts for regular days and rec center/gym
  • 2 sets of top and bottom thermals
  • 2 pairs of heavy winter hiking socks
  • 1 lightweight, waterproof jacket
  • 1 heavier winter snow appropriate jacket
  • 1 athletic Swimwear – 1 piece suits
  • 2 sets pajamas
  • 1 business casual dress outfit
  • 1 long sleeve pullover/clothes to be layered for warmth (ex. Fleece jacket, sweatshirt)

*Cotton and jean clothing is not recommended for outdoor activities*

What is Provided

  • Nalgene water bottle
  • iPod/MP3 or music device that does not connect to the internet

Allowed Upon Approval

  • Jewelry (earrings permitted)
  • Items containing alcohol (such as mouthwash)
  • Belts

Not allowed

  • No aerosols
  • No sharp objects (tweezers, razors)
  • No nail polish
  • No strapless tops
  • No leggings/tights
  • No tank tops
  • No blow dryers, curling irons, straighteners
  • No scarves
  • No shorts shorter than mid thigh
  • No ties
