Iowa Families Finding Help For Troubled Teens

Iowa Troubled Teens Find Help at Red Mountain Colorado

Finding out that your child from Iowa is struggling with negative coping behaviors is a tough realization. You don’t want your kid to be labeled a “troubled teen”. But by knowing the truth of the situation, you’ll be better equipped to get the right help for your Iowa teenager.

Your teen likely needs more help than you can provide at home. He needs the opportunity to unpack his negative behaviors, heal from the past, and create new patterns. An ideal way to do this is by attending a residential treatment center. There he will be able to receive therapy, positive peer support, academics, and – most importantly – develop the skills he needs to thrive.

Iowa Teens Engage and Grow with Adventure Therapy

To really heal, your troubled Iowa teen needs to be an active participant in their own therapeutic journey. While traditional talk therapy is an important part of the process, a teen-focused treatment program allows for more experiential modalities including Adventure Therapy.

Adventure Therapy is an activity-based and hands-on approach that Red Mountain Colorado uses to engage with adolescent boys troubled with mental health challenges. Each week, students will get outside and active with experiences like white-water rafting, skiing, and rock climbing.

Red Mountain Colorado’s adventure activities are intentionally challenging, fun, and offer a host of benefits. Adolescents develop improved communication skills, self-esteem, and distress tolerance. Students learn how to use problem-solving skills in new and sometimes complicated situations.

Through Adventure Therapy, Iowa teens develop transferable skills and they also discover new leisure activities and hobbies. For most of our students, engaging in negative behaviors have usually become the only way they know to have fun. Adventure Therapy exposes them to safe, exciting, and fun activities.

Our location outside of Denver, CO means that we have access to a wide variety of outdoor activities. And while Red Mountain Colorado is located outside of Iowa, we work with teens from around the United States, including Iowa.

At Red Mountain Colorado, a residential treatment center for troubled Iowa boys, your son can find the help and support he needs to achieve lasting healing. Using Adventure Therapy, your son will be able to move past the core beliefs that are limiting his potential and help him believe in his ability to succeed and thrive.
