Minnesota Families Finding Help For Troubled Teens

Minnesota Troubled Teens Find Help at Red Mountain Colorado

Finding out that your child from Minnesota is struggling with negative coping behaviors is a tough realization. You never want your child to be considered a “troubled teen”. But by knowing the truth of the situation, you’ll be better equipped to get the right help for your Minnesota teenager.

Your teenager probably needs more support than you can give at home. He needs the opportunity to unpack his negative behaviors, heal from the past, and create new patterns. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by having him go to a residential treatment center. At a residential treatment center, he will have access to evidence-based therapies, a positive peer group, academics, and the skills he needs to succeed in the long run.

Minnesota Teens Engage and Grow with Adventure Therapy

To facilitate true healing, it is imperative that your Minnesota teen is engaged in their therapeutic process. Though there is definitely a place for traditional talk therapy, a teen-specific residential treatment center allows for more experience-based approaches including Adventure Therapy.

Adventure Therapy is an activity-based and hands-on approach that Red Mountain Colorado uses to engage with adolescent boys troubled with mental health challenges. Students get active and outside every week with experiences like skiing, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting.

These experiential activities are full of challenge and fun and offer other benefits as well. Teens develop communication skills, distress tolerance, and self-esteem. Students learn how to use problem-solving skills in new and sometimes complicated situations.

In addition to these transferable skills, Adventure Therapy exposes Minnesota teens to new hobbies and leisure activities. Frequently our students share that up until Red Mountain Colorado, acting out was the only ways they knew to have fun. Adventure Therapy exposes them to safe, exciting, and fun activities.

Our location outside of Denver, CO means that we have access to a wide variety of outdoor activities. And while Red Mountain Colorado is located outside of Minnesota, we work with teens from around the United States, including Minnesota.
